Challenges

  1. Design and build the first Strategic Communications function and department within the organization.

  2. Lead strategic communications to advance intersectional advocacy for women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities

  3. Drive organizational positioning across global gender equality and disability rights ecosystems through narrative change, stakeholder engagement, and movement-building.

Solutions

    • Architected and executed 19 (and counting) communications plans and narrative campaigns that elevated organizational profile across international platforms—UN forums (CSW, CoSP, COP), Skoll Forum, Global Disability Summit, and major feminist spaces and projects (AWID, UAF-FA, Women Deliver)– in different topics such as intersectional feminism, conflict and humanitarian crisis, climate change, amongst others.

    • Positioned organization as catalyst for systemic change at the intersection of gender and disability rights.

    • Led evidence-based stakeholder analysis identifying communications gaps and opportunities, driving organization-wide strategic transformation.

    • Built scalable infrastructure combining in-house expertise with strategic partnerships.

    • Built a multi-cultural communications team by creating 2 new positions and increased non-communications in house capacity by partnering with our Development department to streamline funder communications and engagement.

    • As part as our capacity strengthening communications efforts, I designed and delivered a training to partner organizations, including organizational partners like Women Deliver.

    • Designed an integrated project management and editorial governance systems enhancing teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, accountability, and strategic alignment across programs and areas.

  • Leading multi-year strategic planning initiative to shift narratives at the intersection of gender and disability—Everything is a gender and disability issue–, including "100 Stories on Feminist Disabled Leaders" as one of the main strategic initiatives for 2026-2029. Amplifying thought leadership and programmatic impact across constituencies from grassroots to international policy-making spaces.

    • Designed and executed a comprehensive engagement strategy for 4,700+ participants from 160+ countries at the Global Disability Summit.

    • Used communications and in-person activations to build cross-movement solidarity with feminist organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) and allied movements through integrated communications frameworks combining advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and strategic space-making.
