City of Austin - Office of Innovation

Content Strategist - Bloomberg i-Team

CHALLENGE - Help Austin residents stay in their neighborhoods.

SOLUTION - Redesigning city services/experiences through content. I was part of a special team under a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies funded to research and redesign services that address displacement mitigation.

HOW I SOLVED IT
Redesign of user-centered content
Content recommendations/Best content practices - both internally and to our client department
Redesign experiences through content.
Made content more accessible for communities and City stakeholders.

RESEARCH PROCESS AND LEARNINGS

  • Define and structure i-team’s knowledge and how to move forward.

  • I co-created the concept of Service Paradoxes.

WORK WITH NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

  • Defined a new content framework for a City Council mandated website to inform homeowners of their options regarding selling their property.

  • Incorporated plain language guidelines and presented content in a step-by-step guide.

  • Developed the scope of work for Affirmative Marketing contracts.

  • Developed a content scorecard and guidelines to review existing Affirmative Marketing content and understand the department’s baseline.

DISPLACEMENT MITIGATION ACTION ACCELERATOR

  • Event designed to bring community ideas forward. This event required different content that participants needed to interact and work with.

  • Design and write pre-event content: GitHub site, newsletters and any other products regarding the event.

  • Design content that helped participants ideate, iterate and prototype their idea to fight displacement.
